Oh What a Beautiful Night

I have to say, I'm pretty sure I have the most romantic engagement story of all time...like a fairy tale literally!  It was New Year's Eve 2009.  Adam took me to Shula's Steakhouse in Birmingham, AL, and we enjoyed a wonderfully cooked, delicious meal of salads, steaks (obviously), and dessert to die for!

Being the social butterflies that we are, we went to my parent's house after dinner to watch the ball drop in NYC on TV.  It was going great until I decided I couldn't hold my eyes open anymore.  Anyone who knows me will tell you I'm lucky if I can stay conscious past 11:00!  Little did I know, he had big plans in mind that did not consist of me making his arm numb and drooling on his good shirt.

He had planned to take me up to Red Mountain which overlooked all of downtown Birmingham.  We eventually made it there...only after we made a few unplanned detours because Adam forgot how to get us there.  Once we made it though it was beautiful!

He got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.  Most of it is a blur (literally) cause I couldn't see through all my tears!  When a girls waits for close to 4 years to hear those words, it's pretty overwhelming and hard to believe.  But BOY was I happy!!!

This was the most amazing view and a perfect setting for Adam's proposal.

Exactly what I wanted! Way to go hubby! xoxo

Where It All Began...

So this story takes place all the way back in March 2006.  I never realized what a great thing it was to have 2 of your best friends dating until I met my husband.

It was spring break my freshman year and Adam's sophomore year at Auburn University (WAR EAGLE!).  Of course I had my plan to go with my girls and he was with the boys.  One of my best friends was dating one of his best friends at the time and we just happened to be staying right down the road from each other in Destin, FL...a coincidence, I think not.

During the week we spent a lot of time together, but i could never figure out why he was avoiding me. (Later found out hubby was nervous and thought maybe I wasn't his type - the party girl type that is).  You see I had BLONDE hair that semester (never again!), and he was trying so hard to be "cool" around me. However, he found out that wasn't quite me, and I guess he liked what he saw.

Fast forward 2 months and we were inseparable!....and the rest is history.
